We all want to eat genuine, delicious tapas dishes while being in Madrid, right?
And what we do not want for sure is being ripped of by some wanna-be-good-looking bar that tries to force people to take a seat at one of their tables.
In this blogpost I will be telling you about three districts of Madrid where locals go to. You can be sure to get authentic tapas there!
1. The district of "La Latina"
La Latina is a district located in the south west of the center.
La Latina is THE neighborhood when it comes to small streets with endless bars which is perfect to drink a beer and have some tapas. This district is also known for its fleamarket "El Rastro", the "Basilica de San Francisco el Grande" and the museum of Madrid´s saint "San Isidro".
The most famous street to get really good tapas is the "Calle de Cava Baja" which is just a 5min walk from Plaza Mayor.
2. The district "Las Letras"
This neighboorhood can be found in the east of the center.
The district has this name for a reason: translated it means "district of the letters" or "district of the literature" because the famous poet De la Vega lived there in the 17.century.
Nowadays, there is a museum in his former house and theatre on Plaza Santa Ana.
The best locations to get tapas there is the "Calle de Jesus" which offers a large variety of tapas bars and restaurants.
3.The area of Sol
Sol is a famous Square in the heart of Madrid.
If you go to the south, you can look for good tapas places in the triangle between the "Calle de Carreteras" and "Calle de la Cruz". Also between the "Calle de la Cruz" and the "Calle de Píncipe".
What do you think of my recommendations?
Did you try one and if so, which one?
