Top 5 Brunch Cafés in Madrid you cannot miss out on

Updated: Nov 8, 2022

The abundance of brunch spots and locations in Madrid can be overwhelming if you go on Google trying to find a special place to have a delicious breakfast.

This blog post will help you find the perfect brunch café you are looking for to start off your day right.

One more thing: Spain is renowned for its heavenly orange juice, eggs benedict and avocado toast - if you have the chance, try it at least once, trust me!

1. Zenit Brunch and Cocktails

Zenith Brunch and Cocktails

Zenit is definitely my favorite place to have brunch with friends or family.

You can find it in the hipster district "Malasana" which is right next to Gran Vía.

What I loved about this one is that it is very spacious with modern decoration.

Another positive aspect is that you can see the chefs preparing the dishes behind the counter and look at the finished dishes lining up on there waiting to be served to the customers. If this isn´t making you hungry, I don´t know what else will.

What is really great about this brunch location is the broad variety they have: several different flavors of pancakes, toasts, shakushka, bagels, wraps, fruit bowl, salad bolws, smoothies - the list is endless.

Definitely give it a try, you won´t be disappointed!

2. Superchulo - Rainbow food

Another one of my favorites is superchulo which means " extremely amazing" - and the name rings true. Their motto: "what counts are colors, not calories".

The minute you walk in, we were mesmerized- the industrial design, the music, the colors, the atmosphere...

They had a host of unique dishes which you can´t find in other brunch locations such as Chia Pudding, filled croissants or bowls with halloumi, avocado and quinoa- just to give an example.

Their coffee and freshly made juices were heavenly.

However, Superchulo is not only serving brunch but also Lunch and Dinner.

It is renowned for its colorful plates and creative dishes - veggi friendly!

3. Eat my Trip Brunch and Cocktails Madrid

EatMyTrip Brunch and Cocktails Madrid

This super hip and instagrammable brunch spot is located in the vicinity of the Almudena Cathedral and the Royal Palace- right in the center of the city.

Its menu is huge and offers a large variety of sweet and savory dishes- ranging from pancakes, broiche, burgers, avocado toast to acai bowls.

I encourage you to try the avocado toast either plain or with scrambled eggs or salmon- it comes with beetroot hummus on the side and tastes exquisite!!

What really knocked our socks off was the presentation of each dish, the love to details, perfect for taking pictures and the portions are huge - so come hungry if you go there!

Note that the café is not really spacious even though they have two floors - if you don´t want to wait in line. I strongly recommend you to make a reservation well in advance.

4. Brunch Club Café

This one is a little bit hard to find when you just walk on the street because only an inconspicuous door tells you that you´re at the brunch club.

This tiny café is located in Malasana and does not offer a bevy of tables- reservation recommended.

What is so great about this place is that they offer a small and a grande brunch menu. This includes one coffee and juice of your choice, then yoghurt with granola and fruit, a basket filled with croissants, bread and rolls puls jam and cheese/ham and an avocado toast with either salmon, eggs or bacon. All of this costs 22€. TOP!

5. Bendita Locura Coffee and Dreams

Bendita Locura Coffee and Dreams

This brunch place is located in the north of Madrid, in the district of Chamberí. It is a more elegant and rather wealthy neighborhood.

What I particularly liked about this one is first of all the authentic vintage interior design. The pictures, lamps, tables and everyting else just dovetails.

Secondly, they have a cute little terrace right out front where you can enjoy your brunch in the sun while watching the hustle on the streets.

About the food: they offer a menu but you can also order one dish only.

The menu comprises one sweet and one savoury dish as well as a drink and a small bowl of yoghurt with fruit and oats.

Special dishes are waffles with banana or red fruit and chocolate spread, roast beef sandwich, quiche lorraine with ham, eggs benedict on a burger, pancakes with whipped cream and dried apple, avocado toast with scambled eggs or shakshuka with pita bread.

Important to mention is also their broad variety of coffee flavors (pink latte) and their home-made smoothies.

If your are looking for someting more exclusive - this is the place to go.

Brunch classic: 23€

Little brunch: 18€
